The Original Legend
Henry Hammond worked as a bartender for Joliet Sheraton
while working as a supervisor at Joliet Wrought Washer for over 20 years.
As a young man, he always had a dream of owning and operating a place of
entertainment for the City of Joliet.
In 1979, his dream became a reality and the first Sippin EZ was born.
In 1982, he lost Sippin EZ to a fire. That following year, he purchased
a new establishment downtown Joliet on Chicago St. and Sippin EZ2 was born.
In 1985, he added to his dream with The Legend on Patterson Rd.
Although Sippin EZ2 closed in 1995, he still maintained his dream through The Legend
until Sunset in 2006.

The Legend II
In 2013, Mike Carruthers fulfilled his dream
of opening a place of entertainment to become the first African American owned sports bar in Joliet.
He took his inspiration from his friend and mentor, Henry Hammond,
and the Legend II came into being as a place for friends to gather to
enjoy sporting events, music, and each other's company.
It is open 7 days a week and is available
for gatherings of any kind. Food is readily available
and don't miss the Smoothies!
